RISD Mail Room

Bold and brightly colored yet skillfully detailed, this important design project, set amid blocks of colonial and revivalist architecture in downtown Providence, is a beacon for students at the city campus.

Students come to the ‘mail room’ to retrieve letters and packages from home and to mail out those of their own. At night, the brightly lit space, with its ochre colored wood panels capped by a rich blue banding, acts as a lantern, framed by a turn of the century cast-iron facade.

Elliot Rose

RGB provided interior design for an approximately 2,000 SF space consisting of four private offices, three open work stations, and a conference room with kitchenette. Energy efficient lighting and mechanical systems were used throughout.

In the reception area, polished black granite border and wall base surround the luminescent slate floor.  The low wall dividing the open office space and the reception area is capped with a quartz composite stone top and glass with decorative film that offers privacy to the staff.

The basic color scheme used throughout the space is sage green and warm wood tones. Wall coverings were used in both the reception area and the conference room to add depth of texture and finish to the walls. A stepped wall feature at the private offices offers additional depth and dimension to the space.

Unique carpet designs throughout the space and decorative pendant lighting in the conference room enhances the space.

University Orthopedics

RGB was commissioned to design a prominent and identifiable reception area for this busy orthopedic practice.

The reception desk was curved concave to provide more space for patients and convey a more welcoming presence.

Brown University Public Health Research Department

Seeking a fresh design approach beyond their traditional corporate standards, Brown University engaged RGB to re-design 54,000 SF of interiors for their Public Health Research Department.

Challenged to create a vibrant and colorful design incorporating environmentally friendly products, RGB used materials consisting of recycled content, low VOC paints, and re-used existing lighting fixtures. Lessening the impact on our landfills and decreasing potential ozone depletion was not only important to our client, but also to RGB and its LEED accredited architects.

With a total construction cost of $3.2 million, and a tight schedule, RGB exceeded the client’s expectations.

RGB Office Renovation

The environment is more comfortable and functional. New conferencing, telephone, and servers were incorporated into the renovation.

Chapel View Development

The client wished to provide a welcoming aesthetic for the new tenants of this building.  RGB was tasked with updating the entry stairway and lobby, the corridors, and the public toilet rooms.

The main entry stair and lobby are fitted out with porcelain tile floors and stair treads.  A new railing system with glass was installed and the railings have a metallic silver paint to mimic brushed aluminum rails.

Natural stone veneer panels, wood wainscott, and chair rails add spectacular texture and color to the space.  Wrought iron decorative lighting blends with the surrounding buildings and maintains an old world theme.

Public toilet rooms are taken to new levels - wood grain partitions add warmth to the stark white tile floors and white walls.  Natural jade mosaic tile at the vanity give elegance and unexpected texture.  An accent wall of jade green wall covering compliments the mosaic tile wall. Solid quartz composite vanity top provides durability and ease of maintenance.
